7-inch trucking-specific GPS

Garmin International has announced the 7-inch dezl 760, the company’s newest trucking-specific GPS.

A key difference between the 560 and the 760 is that the new model functions as a “digital assistant,” said Johan-Till Broer, media relations specialist with Garmin. Though its main purpose is still navigation, the 760 offers such services as hours-of-service tracking, route calculation based on truck attributes, trucking points of interest and real-time information when linked via the smartphone app.

Broer said Garmin is “looking into” developing an iPhone app, but for now, Android users may download Smartphone Link. The app offers subscriptions for fuel price information, weather updates and traffic camera feeds for tracking traffic.

Active Lane Guidance, which shows the map on the left and lane animation on the right, is a new feature made possible by the larger, 7-inch screen.

“The new dezl 760 is designed to meet the specific needs of truckers, helping to make their job easier and save time, fuel, and money,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales.
The company says the 760 is a good tool for all truck drivers and trucking companies and is also auto- and RV-friendly. It should be available for $399 in early December. Visit garmin.com for more information.
