Job Overview:
Legacy Supply Chain is hiring a Director of International Freight Forwarding to support our International Freight Forwarding division. As the Director of International Freight Forwarding, you will be responsible for the strategic and tactical management of international land, air and sea freight forwarding along with customs for all the International Freight Forwarding division. Responsibilities:
- Ensure company health and safety standards are at the forefront of all business activities.
- Responsible for budget and P&L of international brokerage business.
- Supports expansion of Ocean/Air, Import/Export, and Customs Brokerage business while driving quality and regulatory compliance. The company maintains licensed customs brokers on staff.
- Implements new strategies and service offerings based on volume analysis, trade lane expansion strategy, and relationship building with carriers.
- Responsible for leading and developing the International Freight Forwarding team.
- Manage conflicts, issues, and navigate difficult conversations with customers; and assist other team members how to do the same.
- Standardize practices and develop follow-up procedures and performance targets for the business line.
- Ensure that laws and regulations governing forwarding and brokerage are always respected and continually monitored for future changes
- Strategic ownership, development and evolution of international agent partnerships.
- Partner with Corporate Solutions and IT and 3rd party technology partners to develop and evolve innovative customer solutions.
- While partnering with the Enterprise sales team, will have a commercial focus and ability to drive growth and maintain and evolve strategic customer relationships.
- Experience and understanding with market dynamics, pricing capacity, seasonality, and relevant modes.
- Strategic oversight and development of service and product offerings to customer base.
- Identify opportunities and gaps within the customer’s logistics and transportation needs and match up with LEGACY’s service offerings.
- Participate in the negotiation of contractual agreements with carriers
- Ensure agreements meet strategic transportation and cost optimization objectives
Experience and qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years Freight Forwarding/NVOCC experience
- Minimum of 5 years Team Management experience
- Minimum 5 years Export Compliance experience
- Minimum of 5 years P&L Management & Budgeting experience
- Minimum of 5 years Multimodal (Ocean Import, Local Trucking, Drayage) experience
- Ability to establish standard operating procedures & metrics
- Proven history of business plan preparation and implementation
- Direct customer interaction in customer service and/or sales
- Understanding of service contracts
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Computer systems: Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Transportation Management Systems
- Prior experience and knowledge of Customs brokerage, Warehousing, and distribution
- Continuous improvement, Servant leadership and Entrepreneurial mindset
- Organized and detail-oriented with excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to motivate people through collaborative skills
